The Ontario Onsite Wastewater Association (OOWA) is sponsoring two annual awards to support students with a strong interest in onsite wastewater systems. The value of the university award is $1,200.00 and the college award is $600.00. Both are awarded annually.

The university scholarship is available to anyone enrolled in an environmental, chemical, or civil engineering program at an Ontario University. Participants can only receive the award once during their studies and must be conducting research which focuses on onsite wastewater issues, including but not restricted to:

• development of new technologies, including nutrient removal or disinfection technologies
• impact of onsite systems on the environment
• assessment of performance of onsite systems, including new and old technologies, and soil systems
• operation and maintenance of onsite systems

University requirements to be included in application package:

• Letter of interest
• Statement of research or experience, suitable for inclusion in the OOWA newsletter
• Two letters of reference
• One copy of university transcripts

College requirements to be included in application package:
A student must be enrolled in a Three Year Environmental or Civil Engineering Technologist program, or in a Heavy Equipment technology program.
The student must supply the following documentation;

• Letter of Interest
• Transcript of related program grades
• 2 references
• Confirmation of summer internship or employment in the onsite industry

Letters of reference should be included in separate, sealed envelopes with signatures of the references on the cover flap.
